After roping the unit (which can be done at the time of issue to the user) and connecting to an anchor point and body harness, the user need only pull down on the control sleeve and descend. The Compact Descender’s versatility in military applications is demonstrated with its ability to safely lower a paratrooper whose chute is inadvertently entangled in a tree or other high obstruction.
